I would get yor logic, you made gas into a mist and it SHOULD be explosive. But wouldn't it make more sense to make a separate "Gas mist" jutsu or "Oil mist" for things like that. Because just using hidden mist means it would be water.

But hidden mist is a mist made out of water. Water is non-flammable(obviously) which is why it shouldn't REALLY be used as a explosion starter. Although it qould make sense to make a jutsu like the one above. Hmmmm*thinks of doing so*

That doesn't make any sense! Yes, gases are indeed flammable/explosive, however, that doesn't mean anything in a gaseous state is. There is a world of difference between a gas and a gaseous state.

Balli, seriously, Mist isn't explosive, at least not one made up of water. XD You were probably thinking of either sugar or flour mist. Now those are HIGHLY explosive!

...I am honestly afraid for the future of our world now if people think evaporating water would make it explosive. Next thing you know, people are going to start smoking next to a storage of liquid nitrogen because it's a liquid and those are not flammable. Or on oil tankers next to the canisters. Yeah, that'd be cool

There's a difference between gas(Air) and Gas(gasoline in cars and whatnot). However, vapor can be completely evaporated by fire and since these are fire demons, I would say that the Hidden Mist jutsu is completely useless against these Demons. So, in a way, Ballian was right.
Although, I could be wrong. I believe mist(or in which cases FOG) and vapor are too different things. Also, water can't catch on fire, but they also don't mix well. In this case, the fire would just live ontop of the surface of the water. (I've seen this from pictures of plane crashed in the Atlantic Ocean.)

Zeke, shut up. While nobody is stupid enough to use Hidden Mist jutsu to try to fight fires, it definitely will impede their appearance and intensity. Oh yeah, and do you know why "water burns" around a plane crash? It's because gasoline is lighter than water (at least sea water) and floats on top, and gasoline is what burns, not water. WTF people ><
