Ukyo remained in place, but got ready to jump from his sitting position and attack or defend himself at any moment. Become a vampire? Is that possible? Yes, it is, though it's extremely risky for anybody not of the Ozanaru blood and over the age of twelve. Luckily, you are of the Ozanaru blood. So it's not going to be that tough on you, even though you are sixteen. Great, but unfortunately, I must decline your generous offer, - said Ukyo, determined to leave right now. However, before he could even stand up, Rera appeared next to him and pushed him back, making him fall down in the armchair, and then put her right hand on his shoulder, preventing him from getting up again. Wow... she's so fast, I didn't even see her move... and very strong, too... I'm trying pretty hard to stand up, but she's holding me down with just one hand, and doesn't seem to be bothered by my efforts at all! You should understand, Ukyo-kun, that I'm not really giving you a choice here. You possess the Ozanaru blood, yet you haven't been educated in their ways, which makes you the perfect candidate to be turned into a vampire, - she put her hands on his arms, placed one of her knees on his, to prevent him from moving, and moved her face closer to his. All the chuunin could do was look at Rera, and he noticed how her teeth suddenly grew longer and sharper. Trust me, - she whispered in his ear, - I'm doing you a favor. You will understand it later. Ukyo could feel her breath on his neck. Wow... looks like our goose is cooked. Way to encourage Ukyo, brother, real smooth. Ukyo was about to reply to the sentient swords when Rera drove her teeth into his neck. He gave out a scream of pain, but the vampire's grip on him was too tight to break. However, the pain did not last for long, as the chuunin felt extremely sleepy. What... is happening? It's... poison... fall asleep... Ukyo! - the ninja couldn't even hear Taiyou as everything went black and silent for him.

Ukyo shot his eyes open and quickly got up and looked around. He was in a strange place: everything was black, and there was no light at all, however, he could still see himself clearly. What happened? Where the hell am I? - thought the chuunin, as he checked his neck - the bite marks were there, but they have already healed up for the most part, - Hey, Taiyou? Tsuki? Having received no response from the blades, he started walking in a random direction. When he took a few steps, the floor suddenly became visible - it was black marble, and it seemed to continue forever in every direction. Okay, this is just weird. And how the hell am I able to see a black floor in an absolutely black room? It's alright to be confused, Ukyo-kun, - Rera's voice suddenly came from everywhere, and nowhere, since Ukyo couldn't see her anywhere. What happened to me? Where am I? And where are you? I bit you in the neck and triggered the transformation process by injecting some of my special poison into your bloodstream. Right now, your body is being changed, and you are having hallucinations while lying unconscious. And I am right here, - said the woman, appearing right in front of Ukyo. How... if I'm having hallucinations, then does that mean you're just a fruit of my imagination? Not really. I have just invaded your mind to break your will while you're unconscious, so that when you wake up you will become a mindless and perfectly loyal servant. What! Why would you do that?! Because I doubt you will do what I want you to, and because it's damn fun, too. Why you...! - Ukyo threw a punch at the vampire's head, but she dodged it easily and in a taunting way. Tachibana Ukyo has average taijutsu skills and seems to lack some physical strength... a quote from one of the reports about you. There's no way you can touch me, even though we're in a world your mind created, I am still stronger, - said the woman and made a punch of her own, only her attack connected and threw Ukyo several feet back.

She is right... - thought Ukyo, slowly getting up and wiping the blood off his mouth, - I can't beat her without my swords. While I can move as fast and dodge as effectively as a taijutsu user, my attacks cannot be compared to a taijutsu user's. They lack the pure strength and a lot of technique... I am too used to weapons... but giving up is pointless! You might be far greater than me at taijutsu, but if I'm going down, I'm taking you down with me! - yelled Ukyo as he charged at Rera. Speed is one of my finer points. Maybe I can throw her off balance with a quick combination of attacks, - thought the chuunin and jumped at Rera, throwing a punch at her face, followed by a series of punches, chops and palm thrusts at her head, neck and torso. However, they were all blocked relatively easily. Is that the best you can do? - blocking yet another attack, - I'm just getting started! Time to mix in some kicks, - thought Ukyo and made a sweep at the vampire's feet, followed by a handstand heel kick to her chin. The ninja quickly landed on his feet again and jumped up, performing a spinning kick. The vampire jumped over the sweep and blocked the two kicks with minimal problems. You're just tiring yourself out. Remember, we are not in the real world, but in your hallucination. When your energy runs out, that would mean that your willpower is exhausted and I will break you, turning you into a mindless slave. Something is weirdly off here. She wants to tire me out and thus break my will, but she could do it so much faster if she just attacked me... I guess a sense of frustration and desperation also matters... She keeps saying that this world is just a fruit of my mind, she must be trying to drive me desperate, not being able to beat her in my own world...

Wait a second, - thought Ukyo, the expression of realization on his face, - my own world? But if this world was created by my mind, then that means it's laws are also controlled by my mind... it is just that I subconsciously made them the same as the real world... Rera was watching the chuunin, she didn't show it, but she was rather glad. It seems he realized everything... he really is quite special... now, all that remains to see is if he will be able to pull it off. The blue-haired ninja kept watching the vampire, but it seemed as if she was just doing the same. The longer she keeps idly standing there, the better for me... now, if I want to win, then I must use my willpower to change the laws of this world against my subconscious... and Rera will most likely be trying to prevent that, once she realizes what I am trying to do... Using one's willpower to change the laws of a hallucination-world was easier said than done though. The only way that Ukyo could think of was to try and convince himself that this world's laws are different from the real one, and are exactly what he wants them to be. Have you forgotten? I can read your mind. I know what you're trying to do, and... it's useless. Even thought you have gotten the right idea, you are still too weak, - said Rera, but the chuunin ignored her words and continued trying, - Fine, have it your way. You want to see how such things are really done? Alright, I'll show you! She can talk all she wants, but I'm gonna get the last laugh... I believe I figured it out, - thought Ukyo. Using his willpower to manipulate this world was not all that different from using chakra for nature or shape manipulations. He took a deep breath, getting ready to apply the changes he thought would give him the upper hand... and suddenly realized that he just inhaled a lot of water. He started coughing and gasping for a breath as he fell on the ground, but each time only more water would fill his lungs. How...? Did I...? No... Rera... Damn it... I am drowning when there's just air around me... or at least it's supposed to be air... - Ukyo coughed out the water and forced himself not to breath anymore, preventing further drowning. However, there was still no air in his lungs, and he would not hold out for long. I need to change this world, fast... But every time he tried to make the air back into air it was instantly transformed by Rera again. I told you it's useless. I am far stronger than you, and you are just slightly prolonging the inevitable. Is he just going to drown now? He's probably not so special after all... Damn it... she is stronger than me... this must be the end then... guess I'll never help Syra bring up her clan, or meet Nushi again, or defeat Malekith, or settle my quarrel with Kite, or... - Ukyo kept remembering things he wanted to do or was determined to accomplish, - ...or see Lita-chan ever again, - he finished.

I wonder what Tsuki or Taiyou would say now... I doubt they ever encountered such an enemy... He remembered how he obtained them, how they were trying to take over him, how he trained with them... how they became friends or maybe even siblings. I guess I really let them down... I can almost hear Taiyou telling me to stop being such an emo and fight back, - he thought with a smile, - Hey, wait, he'd be quite right! What the hell am I doing just waiting for myself to drown?! I am not going to become a mindless slave! I will not give up my ambitions, my dreams! I will not let my friends down! She wants to drown me? Fine! Let's see how she likes this... Ukyo got up. He was no longer suffocating from the lack of air, even though he wasn't breathing. He noticed the surprised expression on Rera's face, but then it changed to a sly smile. I see... removing the need to breathe at all... quite creative, I must say. But, that won't be enough... - she said as she tried to change something else, but this time, it was Ukyo who cut off all her attempts. You cannot win. This is my world. And even if it wasn't, you still couldn't win against me. Oh really? And why is that? - the vampire was clearly annoyed that the ninja was beginning to get the upper hand. You should understand, since you lived for over a hundred and sixty years. It is because right now, I am fighting for my life, my friends and my dreams. What you're fighting for is merely a petty desire. You might have more knowledge and power than I do, but you will never win against me because of this. As Ukyo said this, two familiar swords appeared in his hands. He realized they weren't sentient in this reality, since their bond was not that deep yet and what he created were merely the physical objects, but he was still quite skilled in using them. He didn't want to take any chances though, as he made some more changes to the reality, and charged at Rera with a simple thrust using Chakra Slide. The vampire dodged the attack, but just barely. So, you have made me slower, but... Just shut up already! - yelled Ukyo as he performed a slash with the Silver Moon, leaving a deep cut on the woman's chest. He slashed at her several more times, each time cutting deep into her flesh and leaving dangerous but not fatal wounds. Soon, the vampire dropped to her knees, bleeding all over. The chuunin bowed down and whispered: I win, - in Rera's ear, and then beheaded her.

As soon as Ukyo killed Rera in the illusionary world, it started fading. Everything went black again, and when he regained consciousness, he was lying in a comfortable bed, with Rera sitting on a chair at his side. Good morning, Ukyo-kun, though it really is more of an evening. You...?! What...?! Why...?! How...?! Calm down now. Get dressed and we will speak in my office again. The female vampire left the room, and Ukyo noticed that Yamato was standing right outside the door, probably waiting to guide him to Slayer's office again. Is she nuts?! She really expects me to go there and talk to her after what happened? Hn? And just what happened, exactly? What do you mean what happened?! We had a tough fight in... oh, right... you can't know that... We can't know what? You just fell unconscious after she bit you, then the Yamato guy brought you here... it's been a week since then! We had a fight of minds... she tried to break my will, but I... what?! A week?! Damn! I was supposed to meet Syra four days ago! I have to... Don't be an idiot. You are so late already, it won't matter if you leave now or in the morning. And the vampire woman seems to have something important to tell you. Oh, alright... Ukyo got dressed and, just as he expected, Yamato guided the ninja to Rera's office right away.

When the chuunin entered her office, the vampire was sitting in one of the armchairs, just as before. Ukyo made his way to the other one and sat down without waiting for an invitation. Wow... I'm having quite the deja vu here. Hm, yes, the situation is practically the same, but some things have changed. Really? Like what? The liquor. It's "Creme de Peches", one of the best peach liquors you would ever find. Are you serious?! Talking about some liquor after what you have done! Don't be mad at me, Ukyo-kun. I have actually freed you. Freed me? From what?! From your demonic bloodline. From your ridiculous clan. From your mortality. My mortality? What do you mean? I already told you, didn't I? Vampires live so much longer than humans that they are often called immortal. Vampires? No, wait, but... our fight in that illusion... I won and...! Yes, sorry about that. I had to lie to you back then. You were turned to vampire anyway, and I can understand your anger. You will understand in time that it was for your own good. Having a demon within your body... not such a pleasant experience, and your new bloodline is easily more powerful than that of the Ozanaru. Is that all you have lied to me about? No. The other thing is, I told you in the illusionary world that I wanted to break your will and turn you into a slave. It wasn't true, I did that so you could become stronger, a vampire of the highest level, but I needed you not fight with everything you had to make that possible. Of the highest level? Do you mean just as powerful as you? An amused smile crossed Rera's face. No, not quite. Actually, you might never be able to become even with me, since you aren't a heir of the vampire blood. But it'll still put you way over the other people of your rank. I see... Now, tell me, do you notice anything... different about yourself? Um... no, but my back is itchy. Yes, that's to be expected... Come, I will show you, - she said, standing up and heading for the exit. Ukyo followed her, wondering what might be the case.

Several minutes later, they arrived in a rather small room that had two mirror walls against each other. Ukyo's couldn't understand why would anybody want a mirror wall, especially two of them placed against each other, as it gave a weird optic effect of an infinite number of rooms. Well, - asked Rera, leading the chuunin to the center of the room, - Do you notice anything now? Ukyo's eyes widened when he looked in the mirror, since he saw that his hair turned from their unnatural bright blue color to a not any less unnatural deep purple. My hair... why? Must be just a minor effect of becoming a vampire... here, let me give you a hint, - she said as she walked up to him from behind and tore off his shirt. Hey, what are you...! - Ukyo exclaimed, but didn't finish when he saw the reflection of his back. A pair of black, wicked-looking wings was where nothing was supposed to be. What... is this...? What... happened to me...? Calm down. These are your wings, a common attribute for a powerful vampire. They just recently grew, and you never had any experience, so it might take a while before you get used to them. But you should be able to control them soon, besides, you must be able to do it before you leave this place. But why don't you have wings then? I thought you were stronger, you should have wings then... I do. But they are hidden, and you must learn to do that, too. How? It will come naturally as soon as you start feeling them and not just an itch in your back. I think you do realize that special clothes are needed for the wings to be used... Everything was prepared for you, and is waiting for you in your room. My room? Yes, you're a vampire now, so you can consider this place your home as well. Oh... cool, uh... and where is it? Rera smiled and then answered: Yamato will guide you through. Once you are ready, come see me again before you leave.

Ukyo was walking through the forest, back in the direction of Kirigakure. It was quite convenient. Before he left, Rera "gave" him her daughter's mental image and taught him to seek the person out using it. She also helped him control his wings a bit, at least to hide them so that they weren't visible from underneath his clothes. The new outfit the ninja received was just like his old one, but in darker colors, and there were two unnoticeable recesses on the back of his shirt, so that he could spread and move his wings without trouble. He also left the sentient swords' sheaths in his room in the underground mansion, and switched them for the more battle-convenient metal holders. This was a new beginning, for both him and the two blades. You seem to be quite glad. Really? Yes. Even excited, maybe. I can understand why. Hm, if I think about it, I can, too. I am actually happy to be rid of the demon bloodline. I am excited about my new abilities and the possibility of flight. I will admit, that's really something. But, have you thought about how Syra would react to this? Ukyo was a bit concerned by this question. I didn't think about it before... but I think she'll understand. Besides, I am still going to help her. Good to see you being so optimistic. And have you thought about how Lita would react to this? The purple-haired boy stopped in his track. Such a question didn't occur to him, he even completely forgot about the girl from all of the recent events. Oh, yeah, her. You're a vampire now, an immortal, and she's still just a human... Shut up! Shut up, both of you! Ukyo felt devastated. Now that he was even worse than part demon, did he even have a chance to be liked by her? You... why do you always have to make me feel miserable?! We don't. But right now you're drunk with your new power, and needed a shock to snap out of it. Oh, shut up! - the ninja threw the black sword into a nearby tree, and it got stuck there. Ukyo, please... Don't! Talk! To! Me!

He stood there, all alone in the dark forest, fighting the wish to fall on his knees and cry. His strange excitement was replaced by a feeling of solitude and despair. Only now had he fully realized what happened to him. Ukyo remained in place for several minutes, his face turned towards the ground. Finally, he slowly walked over to the Dark Sun, pulled it out of the tree and put it where it belonged - held at his waist, under his right arm. Enough self-pity. It is only my fault that I have become like this. I always despised humans anyway, and now I really am no longer one of them, why feel bad? Yeah, no reason at all, and I should be glad I obtained new powers. And I will learn even more of them soon enough, - he thought, shaking the light bag with several scrolls describing the vampire's bloodline and jutsus, which Rera gave him, - and who knows, maybe Lita will even want to become just like me. Yeah, she really might. And then, there will be nothing separating us... Ukyo once again started walking in the direction of Kirigakure. He knew that these thoughts were not real, he did not believe them, but at least they made him feel a bit better. I will return to those matters later, but right now, I should head to Kiri and meet Syra... I am six days late already. And a convenient thing is that Rera's daughter also seems to be in Kiri, or at least she's definitely in that direction. Yes, if she is, then finding her will be easy, - a fit of rage suddenly overwhelmed Ukyo, - and when I find her, I will repay you fully, Rera. I will make her death so painful, you will feel it yourself even from hundreds of miles away! The ninja picked up his pace and soon left the forest. However, his anger would not go away, and he increased his speed more and more, not noticing that he was already running, and finally, without even realizing it, he took to the skies.
