Kodo stood at the shore of the lake and he looked out onto the calm surface. He knew the Chuunin exams was coming up soon and he still had some training to do. Alas his sensei Tamotsu was nowhere to be found. He would have to learn this jutsu himself. He pulled out a scroll he barrowed from the village library. On it’s surface it had the fire seal. He unhooked the seal and opened the scroll. Within its single page held the secrets of the first of many fire style jutsu Kodo wished to add to his arsenal. The first was thought to be the most basic of the fire style jutsu; Goukakyuu no Jutsu(Powerful Fireball Technique) and it would be powerful. One of the few memories Kodo had was one of his ability to manipulate the fire element. Now he would not only have to manipulate it, he would now have to create it. Katon: Goukakyuu no Jutsu [Fire Release: Powerful Fireball Technique]

Description: The user must first gather chakra into his hand and mouth. The mouth then shoots out fire and one hand is placed just out of the lips to control it into one intensely hot fireball. This attack is similar to a huge devastating flamethrower.
Kodo continued to read the scroll and finally decided where he was going to start. Kodo placed the open scroll on the ground open to the listing of hand signs; Snake, Tiger, Monkey, Boar, Horse, Tiger. Kodo would have to learn this string of hand signs and be able to pull them off in perfect synch wile in the heat of battle. “There was only six… How hard could this be?” Kodo thought to himself. Kodo looked at the scroll and placed his hands in the first hand sign; Snake. Kodo then followed up with Tiger, Monkey, Tiger, Horse, Boar, Tiger. Kodo tried again to Copy the hand signs from memory. He started with Snake and followed with Monkey, Tiger, Horse, Boar, Tiger. He looked down at the scroll again and still found that he miss ordered the hand signs. “Looks like I’m going to have to cheat.” Kodo decided that he was going to follow the hand signs by looking at them on the scroll wile he performed them. Kodo looked at the scroll and seen the first sign he cuffed his hands in the Snake and sign. Looking again he seen the next sign was Tiger, so he placed his hands in that sign. He followed this pattern through the remaining, Monkey, Boar, Horse, Tiger, hand signs.
Kodo followed this pattern and slowly sped up the rate of the hand signs. Kodo was going to remember this jutsu through mussel memory rather then actual memory. After about an hour he was able to perform the string of hand signs in perfect synch. Kodo picked up the scroll and read further about this jutsu. He would need a high concentration of chakra focused in his mouth and turn it into fire then expel it before it burned his mouth. Kodo rolled up the scroll and placed it in his pouch; he looked out onto the lake and seen two sea bird flying by. Kodo got to his feet and stood facing the large body of water. He then started focusing his chakra, “Mi Tora Saru I Uma Tora. Katon: Goukakyuu no Jutsu!”
Kodo finished the string of hand signs and inhaled a large breath. He could feel his chakra filling his mouth so he opened wide and nothing came out. His chakra just dispersed. Kodo looked further into the scroll and it showed a figure of a hand being held to the mouth to focus the direction of the chakra. This could be some what difficult with his beak in the way; still he would have to try. Nothing ever came from giving in. Kodo stood at the end of the dock and held the Tori hand seal to increase his chakra flow. As his chakra started to actively flow throughout his body at a faster pace then normal Kodo placed his Hands in the Mi (Snake) hand seal. His chakra flowed to his hands. He then raped off the other hand seals. “Fire Style; Fireball Jutsu!” Kodo inhaled a large breath and placed his left hand at the entrance of his mask. He could feel his mouth filling with chakra and the heat emitting from the Jutsu. He exhaled his breath and Kodo could feel the heat pass over his lips and through his hand as a small ember came out the other side. Kodo was depressed at his failure. All his work and he was only able to produce a small ember. What was he going to do with that, make the opponent ninja laugh to death? Kodo would try this jutsu again and again until he got the desired results.
Kodo looked into the sky when he heard the sound of flapping wings; it was Airazor. He must have returned after filling his belly. Kodo thought for a moment…. “Wouldn’t it be cool if Airazor could learn this jutsu as well? I know Airazor and I share the same chakra pool so I could possibly channel his chakra in the same way as my own.” Kodo didn’t know how right he was. They were now both going to learn the Fireball Jutsu and that would be a secret only he would know. Kodo looked over to Airazor who only flapped his wings and let out a defining screech to his approval.
Kodo once again stood at the edge of the dock looking out onto the lake. He was going to try the Goukakyuu no Jutsu again, only this time he had a partner who was also going to try it. Airazor circled in the air as Kodo held the Tori hand seal to release the flow of his chakra. At the same time Airazor’s own chakra started to rapidly flow through his body. Kodo ran through the hand seals as he felt his chakra focus into his hands. As he inhaled a breath chakra filled his mouth. Airazor let out a screech as he also deeply inhaled. Kodo placed his left hand to his mask “Fire Style, Fireball Jutsu!” Kodo exhaled and heat rushed over his hands and on the other side a small stream of fire flowed from his hand.
Kodo looked over at Airazor who had a small fireball escape his beak before disappearing into smoke. “I can’t believe that actually worked.” Kodo thought to himself. “I actually got Airazor to use Goukakyuu no Jutsu. It isn’t perfected, but still he was able to produce fire from his beak. My own skill with this Jutsu is also increasing. Kodo stood at the edge of the dock, He was excited that he was going to not only learn a new and powerful Jutsu, but his life partner Airazor was also going to use it. This made Kodo even more determined to learn this jutsu. He wasn’t going to tell anyone that Airazor would also know this jutsu. It would be a secret he would keep until the Chuunin exams. Practice, that is what Kodo and Airazor needed and that is what they were going to get.
Kodo held the Tori hand seal as both his and Airazor’s chakra started to flow. Kodo did the six hand signs required for this jutsu and placed his left hand at his mask. The two inhaled almost exactly at the same time. As Kodo exhaled he once again got the stream of fire and Airazor got a small fireball that dispersed into smoke a second later. The same result had happened and Kodo didn’t know why. It would have to wait as Kodo dropped to his knees and collapsed from chakra exhaustion. The toll of using twice the needed amount of chakra so that both he and Airazor could learn this jutsu was too great. Kodo fell into a deep sleep that nothing could wake him from. An eagle flew over head and dropped a letter down towards the ground. The letters contents were simpled.
"You are requested to make an appearance at this year's Chuunin Exams held on a small island of the coast of Kirigakure. In one weeks time, preliminary teams and match ups will be announced. If you are one of the genin involved, if you are not present you will forfeit your spot. As for all others invited we implore you to be on time for this event." Kodo awoke several hours later and found that the sun had already begin its decent along the horizon. “It looks like I over slept. Airazor our training will have to continue into the hours of the night. We will not quit until we can both use this jutsu with ease.” Kodo walked over to Airazor and spotted a small message scroll in one of his talons. “What is that you got there?” Airazor flew over Kodo and dropped the scroll in his hand before returning to the post. Kodo opened the scroll and read its contents fully. After reading it in its entirety Kodo rolled up the scroll and placed it in his pack with one fluent motion. “Well Airazor, my friend, it is official. Our training is going to continue indefinitely for the next week. This here scroll is our invitation to the Chuunin exams that will be held in Kirigakure, in one week’s time.”
Kodo took a few steps to the edge of the dock, as he did he looked out onto the water’s surface. Kodo could see the stars and the moon reflecting their heavenly light off the water. How could something he feared look so beautiful? Kodo couldn’t figure it out. “It looks to be a beautiful night…” Kodo’s solid green eyes narrowed as his chakra started to flow around his feet. The Chakra’s power strengthened as it snaked its way up Kodo’s body. “… A perfect night for training!”
Kodo took a strong stance at the edge of the dock as he rapidly ran through the needed hand seals for his jutsu. “Fire style: Fire ball jutsu!” His own elemental chakra fluctuated wildly as it surged to Kodo’s hands and chest. Kodo took in a large breath and placed his left hand at his beak. Kodo didn’t exhale, this time he waited for the heat in his mouth to build then he blew out as fast as he could. Kodo was determined to get this jutsu down, so much so that after releasing the intense torrent of fire he just kept pouring on the chakra. The medium stream of fire started to curl into a fireball of desired results. After seeing the desired results Kodo stopped the jutsu. The small fireball collided with the water’s surface and burst into steam. Kodo dropped to one knee and panted a bit. In his excitement about being accepted into the Chuunin exams Kodo used a bit too much of his chakra in that last attempt. Still he got his desired results. He had created a fireball out of his own chakra.
Kodo looked over at Airazor… He now had to create the same effect for his falcon partner. Kodo rested himself on the edge of the dock wile he waited to catch his breath. After he calmed down Kodo got up to try the Jutsu again. This time he would channel Airazor’s chakra and he would then use this jutsu as well.
