Nathen stumbled down the busy streets of Konohagakure. His tail pulled close and ears pointed back. He hated walking around in the village and was looking for a place he could hide for a while.

A small smile crept on his lips as he spotted a small tea shop, near the front gates of Konoha. It looked old, weathered wood clung to the side of the building, the banners looked stained and torn. He immediately took a liking to it and cautiously walked inside, glancing around to see the one or two older couples sitting near the front of the tea house. A younger waitress waved at him and motioned for him to find a spot.

Five minutes later, Nathen had found a both in the back that would be perfect for four. He pushed himself close to the wall of the booth. From there he could see everyone that came in and all the tables. He sighed, calming down and ordered his favorite tea.

Darien had just been released from Tamotsu's tedious works and found himself with free time. The first time in a week since the three had arrived in Konoha. He sighed as he walked along the streets, people giving him odd looks. He looked ahead and gave them no mind as he remember when he and the Hokage spoke.

"Sure, you can join me. But, I don't think people are ready to see your kind yet in Konoha. But, I'll let you be one of my students. You just have to work hard and find something to care about. After that, there's no limit to where you can go."

He didn't care as long as he had his master's blessing and acceptance. He walked a bit proud of himself until tripped on the floor and made a fool of himself. He stood up and dusted himself off and kept walking. He found himself walking along the streets all the towards the front gate to where a small tea shop was. He sighed as he trudged over to it, thinking he needed time away from the outside. He entered the shop and the waitress looked at him and gave a smile. Before he could ask for a table, she told him to follow along and walked after her. She took him to where another boy who looked almost exactly like him was sitting and he sat across from him.

"Uh... hi?" Darien said as he looked at the boy.

Nathen blinked and looked up to the waitress confused. but she had turned her back and went to get more tea. He mentaly cursed.

"H-hi." He mumbled, almost in a whisper, edging closer to the wall. He noticed his new companions tail and ears and looked away from him quickly, thinking he would take offense to the starring. His own tail quickly wrapped around his left leg and he crossed his ankles so they locked together. Nathen picked up the tea, holding it like a five year old, his sleeves pulled over his hands so he wouldn't get burnt.

Darien tilted his head a bit and looked at the other boy as his ear twitched. He raised a brow as he examined his ear and the only part of his tail that he could see. He then sat upright as the waitress arrived and gave Darien some Iced Tea despite never having ordered anything. He looked on confused but did not question at all what was going on. He simply drank from his tea normally and then thought of ways to begin an odd conversation. However, everything he thought off was confusing and made him feel stupid. However, error was made and he slipped.

"I'm from the Earth Country!" HE said without being able to control his volume.

One of the old couples glared at Darien when he shouted. Nathen just looked up to him and nodded. He'd noticed the head band he was wearing was different then his own.

"K-Konoha." He answered Darien finally and smiled to himself, as he sipped at his tea. He relaxed slightly, letting go of his leg and laying his tail beside him. He wasn't sure yet, but he was starting to enjoy the new company.

"Really!? Because I know the new Hokage! And he's my master and he's so cool! When we were coming this way, he was all like... breaking hills and trees with his punches and kicks! And he was like... boom!!! He did this thing... it was a weird blue ball of chakra and he slammed it into some thief and it sent him flying through three trees! And it was sooooooo awesome that I almost passed out from being excited. I wish I was more like him, he's so strong and fast and so cool about it. He's just a bit cold sometimes and treats me like... a dog..." Darien began peppy like but ended on a sad note as he thought a bit.

Nathen smiled at the small speech from the earth nin. His eyes watched the different movements of his ears and carefully watched his expression change as he continued.

"Wh-what's the p-problem in that?" He asked before sipping at his steaming tea again and closing his eyes. He was use to being treated like a dog rather then a human, so he didn't see the abnormality.

The man in the Hokage's robe appeared from nowhere almost instantly and he had heard Darien's speech. He smiled a moment, and then looked at the one before him. "Hmm? Two? How odd. Maybe I can put these two together on a team." He said to himself as the waitress looked at him.

"My lord hokage! What an honor! We heard you returned from Iwagakure to assume Hokage status." The waitress said as Tamotsu began to shake his head nervously.

"Don't make a show." He backed away and then arrived at the table where Darien was. "Hello, Darien. Whose your friend?"

"Oh! Tamotsu-sama. This is... I don't know... but he's just like me!" Darien smiled.

"I see. Darien, I want to apologize. I didn't mean to treat you like a dog. However, dogs are still family to and a good person never harms family. I've treated you less then family and from now on, I will treat you as one of my students and as if you were my child." Tamotsu said softly.

"Tamo..." Darien froze for a moment.

"As for you Nathen Satoshi, thank you for keeping my subordinate company. When you have the time, come visit me. I'll speak to you in private." Tamotsu smiled and then disappeared in another flurry of leaves.

Nathen blinked as the hokage faded in then back out of thin air. He didn't know what to do. So Nathen just sat there and stared at the spot Tamotsu was standing before.

"H-how?..." Nathen stammered, hoping to come to some conclusion, but failing. his tail flicked beside him and his ears twitched down. He tried to hide in the corner of the both again when he started to notice the other people around just looking at him. Nathen just wanted to disappear at that moment.

Darien looked at Nathen who had begun to feel uneasy by the looks that people were giving him. He wasn't used to people treating others like this since in Iwagakure, people of his kind were considered messengers of the gods. He stood up and looked at the whole room and took a cue from his master. "Stop looking at him like he's some sort of outcast! If the Hokage can accept him and I the way we are... BACK OFF AND STOP MAKING IT LOOK LIKE WE'RE ODD!" He snapped as everyone in the tea shop went silent and then back to their own conversations. Darien sat back down and looked at Nathen, as Tamotsu called him and smiled. "Sorry. Didn't mean to scream like that."
