Well, starting with something basic is common sense. One of the easier kidou is the red missile hadou. You probably practiced it in the academy. However, being able to do it without incantations is essential in combat, since you will rarely have a chance to go uninterrupted. Hence the need for chant-less kidou. It will require a little practice though. Now, I hope you remember the incantations, but in case you need to refresh your memory... - he takes another scroll and hands it to Rukia, - Here. The writings in the scroll read: "Oh ruler, mask of flesh and blood, all creations of the universe, fluttering of the wings, ye who bears the name of man! Scorching heat and disorder, evolve the transposition of the southern sea barrier."

She holds her hand up, gather chakra for the Hadou. She grins, "Hmm what to aim it at?" She looks around and sees a dead tree. "How fortunate for me," she says moving a little closer to it. "Oh ruler, mask of flesh and blood, all creations of the universe, fluttering of the wings, ye who bears the name of man! Scorching heat and disorder, evolve the transposition of the southern sea barrier. Hadou #31 - Shakkahou!" A red sphere of chakra launches itself at the tree, leaving a burnt dent. "Eh heh heh." Rukia rubs the back of her her. "Of course that's only strong enough to knock someone out, if I get lucky enough. But that was easy, I suppose I should work on the actual strength of it, huh?"

I thought she said she was good with kidou... Yeah, that wasn't at all what it should have been... He looks away for a while, thinking, and then smiles. Since you're gonna be practicing this anyway, you should also work on your aim. A still target isn't that good of a simulation... - he walks away from Rukia, putting about fifteen meters distance between them, - Alright, try to hit me with one of those shots. Of course, if you don't fire them fast enough, you will never land a hit. That's another reason chantless kidou is important.

Scorching heat and disorder, evolve the transposition of the southern sea barrier. Hadou #31 - Shakkahou!". She hits the tree again once more. "Still slow," she says and trying again. She doesn't it about five times, and cuts 2-3 second off her time. She understands that while those few second where precious, She need the time cut by even more. "Alright let's do this, experience is better than normal training."

Toushiro watched Rukia perform the kidou several times, gradually improving her speed, but it was far from good enough. Of course, thinking about it, any opponent who haven't faced a shinigami before will be taken aback by the sudden, seemingly meaningless monologue. But that was a small advantage compared to the speed of chantless kidou. She needed more practice. Hitsugaya sighed. There wasn't much he could actually do to help Rukia with her training, even if he wanted to. The system implemented in the academy was actually quite efficient - the shinigami were demonstrated how to use a kidou, and then were left to practice with it, with nobody really watching them. Ready when you are, - said the jounin, pulling his zanpakuto in case he needed to deflect the kidou.

Rukia grins, keeping her distance from Toushiro. "Ok," she draws her sword an charges at him, taking a few stabs at him. He should be able to easily counter them, they were rather weak and slower than they could be. Her intentions weren't to attack him with the intentions of winning the spar, but rather test his personal defense skills. Now I have to enhance the force of the Hadou, I'll worry about no chanting latter. She lands back in her original position, sheathing her sword. "Oh ruler, mask of flesh and blood, all creations of the universe, fluttering of the wings, ye who bears the name of man! Scorching heat and disorder, evolve the transposition of the southern sea barrier..." she stops, holding her charge. She shunpos behind Toushiro and releases a full pontential version than she had been firing, "Hadou #31 - Shakkahou!" She grits her teeth, hoping it would get him, if just a little.

Toushiro thought it was rather amusing to have his defenses tested by someone with much less skill than himself. Instead of parrying the attack, he decided to simply dodge them. When he drew his zanpakuto, he didn't hint that she should attack him in close combat, but it didn't do any harm, so... he prepared himself as Rukia started the chant. The fact that she used shunpo to move behind him at the last moment came as a bit of a surprise to him, but not enough to get caught off guard. He expected something like this, after all, just shooting hadou at him directly would not have much of an effect. Then again, I didn't say she is supposed to hit me... why do people tend to misinterpret things so much? He used shunpo to move to the side, avoiding the red missile. Good attempt... but hitting me isn't what this practice is about you know. He then waited for Rukia to make her next move.

But alright, Captian."She readies herself, "I don't know if noticed, but that one packed a bit more of a punch. But you'll find that out soon," She looks down at his feet. "Oh ruler, mask of flesh and blood, all creations of the universe, fluttering of the wings, ye who bears the name of man! Scorching heat and disorder, evolve the transposition of the southern sea barrier. Hadou #31 - Shakkahou!" She once again fires a red blast at him, another grin spreading across her face. She only pauses long enough to see which way his feet go (should he try to move), then pegs the spot ahead of him with a second missile. The second shot is a fully powered, chantless kidou. "Alright, I'm done playing, anything else captain?"

Of course I will... - thought Toushiro, not really impressed. He didn't like when people bragged. Some credit was probably due here - but it was nothing extraordinary to get all worked up over. He dodged the first missile launched at him only to find another one going straight for him. Not bad, Rukia. You have actually performed a chantless kidou. Hadou no Youn: Byakurai, - he said, pointing a finger towards the red projectile. A shot of lightning flew off his fingertip and burst through the other hadou, causing a small explosion in the air. Let's move on then. Is there anything else you would want to learn now?

IC: "Well, I knew what I was doing all along, I was just practicing that for the hell of it. Not being able to do Shakkahou and being labeled as a kidou specialist? Nonesense." She thinks for a moment, "Well I've been trying to learn Haien, but it hasn't clicked yet." She looks towards the tree stump and says another lengthy yet poetic chant. In light of being embarrased about her brother sending a captian to teach her, she left out some words. Chakra bearly escaped her hands in a flame like matter. It was far from being complete. She shrugs nervously and turns back to Toushiro, "I dunno what I'm missing. I'm pretty decent at the circulation of chakra."
