Sol's and Rera's blades clashed over and over again, causing sparkles to fly all around the place. Slowly but surely, he was pushing her back. His fighting style was crude and unhoned, but brutally efficient nonetheless. He used his sword to block oncoming attacks, and counterattacked with his bare hands. The vampiress used her sword to attack and dodged his attacks. However, neither was able to get an opening of their opponent. They were evenly matched, and this fight could go on for hours, until one of them would get tired. There's more to it than that you fool. Of course, Sol, or Frederick or whatever, is much stronger and faster than you, but, not than me. Yet Rera was able to outrun me. She is not fighting at full power. She is playing with him, keeping her speed to just a bit more than his. Considering the enormous gap in physical strength, she must be thinking they're fighting on even ground now. She's holding back... but why? As if on queue, Rera dodged another of Sol's attacks and smirked. The next instant she was standing behind him, about to bring her blade down. Th-that wasn't any kind of technique, it was pure speed! And I didn't even see her move... What did I tell you? The battle is over. He will be killed in mere instants... which means your time to escape has just gotten cut by a lot. Start moving! Father!!
Just as both Ukyo and Rosu thought it was over, a wide torrent of fire erupted backwards from Sol. The vampiress, not expecting such a move, got caught inside, only to emerge from it by jumping to a side in a second. The jounin vampire could only stare in disbelief as the torrent crashed into the wall behind the fighting couple and melted halfway through it. Yet Rera only looked slightly charred, her skin now covered in ash and her dress burnt in places. Nice... and she didn't even obtain that legendary power of hers yet. What the hell?! What kind of battle are we observing? It isn't a fight between two extremely powerful people... it is a fight between demigods! Don't be stupid Tsuki, there is no such thing as demigods. Hm, and I thought I was strong... compared to either of them, I am still a toddler...
The once married couple stood against each other again. They were looking at each other intensely, Rera with rage, and Sol... with a lot of mixed emotions, but the clearest of them all was determination. You've really got some flash, Immoral Flame... but this is far from over! Saya' plea went unheard by either of them, or at least they didn't show they considered it. So... I take it your concerns about our mother were proved correct? More than that. She wants to sacrifice Saya for power. Hm... that's sweet. Ukyo was surprised Rosu had enough strength for sarcasm, then again, it could be that she was emotionally crushed and needed it to keep herself from collapsing. He could only guess what kind of thoughts were going through her head, but decided that couldn't be that far away from her sister's. Don't waste your breath, Rose. Your words can't reach her.
Their swords clashed again. Now, the vampiress was fighting at full power, and it became obvious just how much faster than the bounty hunter she was. However, she still couldn't land a hit on him, since he now used his mastery of fire to its full extent as well. Every time she outran him, she was met with raging flames that were far more potent than normal fire. It was still a mutual stand-off. Seems he can buy us more time... stop wasting it! Get going! Take these stupid girls with you if you want, but run! It's only a matter of time before he loses. How can you be so sure of that? What- Look at them! He can only hold her back. With that difference in speed, he isn't even attacking, because he realizes its futility. Then why is he fighting? Beats me.
Sol and Rera came together once again, their swords grinding against one another. How could you let this happen to you?! Let your darkness and lust for power take over?! Fool. Power is everything! Tell me, Frederick, where would you be now without your power? How would you survive without it? I simply took it to the next step, using power to get whatever I want! This is the difference between me and dirt like yourselves. You're lost. Let me end your suffering. The big guy is right. She has lost, long ago. Has lost? Didn't you say she was winning just a little while ago? Of course I did, and she is. But she lost another battle, many years ago. How do y- no, what does it matter?! Everything, you idiot. I am talking about the battle with her inner darkness. I figured she lost that, otherwise she wouldn't be doing this. Her inner demon has- wait... that's it?
Ukyo's eyes shone with realization. At that exact time, Sol and Rera broke apart again, and the bounty hunter was now standing with the rest of the group. He was about to jump back into battle when the jounin grabbed his arm. Sol, wait! You can't defeat her, not like this. I, I think I know what to do... Rera watched with amusement as Ukyo quietly explained his plan to his companions. I'll need your help. Distract her while I prepare... something. Then, corner and disarm her, or if possible, hold her down. What are you planning, vampire? I can't explain it... in short, I will try to save her. Save her?! She's trying to kill us! Just bear with me on this one. Sol looked at Ukyo intensely for a few moments and then nodded. Whatever his plan was, it must have been better than nothing. The bounty hunter once again entered battle with the vampiress, who seemed intrigued by what they were talking about. Ready to die yet? And they clashed once again. _________________

Anguish and angst crashed against Saya's mind. She came to try and stop her mother and bring her to the light, so they could be a family once more, but all she was good for was dead weight. Her father so bent on trying to kill Rera did not even care for what Saya wanted, he just wanted what was good enough for him. Saya felt anger burning through her body. She could not fight against the two of them alone. What was she thinking? She was useless, even as a jounin, and even with a vampire's lost technology attached to her arm. All she was to Rera was a sacrifical object that she could use to get power. And to Fredrick she did not even know. A way to find Rera perhaps to get his revenge? To both of the people she considered to be the most important in her life than her sister, they saw her as nothing but a tool.
Saya felt bitter tears fall down her face, 'How much a fool am I? To think that all these years of not having parents that I could just be happy...with my life the way it is, how could I truly think this way? I am locked in suffering and all I can feel is suffering. The small bits of happiness that I might feel come with the sacrifice of days of hatred and lost feelings. All I have ever tried to do was not be a burden, but that is all I have ever been in this world. A burden. I made Rosu hate me to the point that she tried to kill me. I can't give Kaeor the happiness he wants. I made Ukyo use his own blood to sustain me and then betrayed him. I tried to be happy with my father and try and learn more about him, but all I see from him is how much he hates my mother. My mother wants to use me to sacrifice for power. Everyone who holds some significance in my life is disappointed in some way with me, and I can't make anyone happy. I really am just a burden.' Her thoughts began to vocalize without any sudden realization of what she was saying.
"I am nothing in this world but a way to make others suffer with my own suffering. I was raised to be nothing but a way for mother to gain power, even tested on and forced to endure her times of enjoyment." Tears continued to fall, but she looked up to stare at Rera and Fredrick fighting in front of her. Flames crashing from Sol's body, and Rera's intense speed. She felt her eyes harden on the two and her feelings bubbled to the surface once more, "Its all their fault! Mother let me go through that hell, and enjoyed it, just so she could use me. Father was no different, he used me to find mother, all because I was looking for her. What significance do I hold in a world where I am to just be used?" Saya rose a shaking hand towards her face to cover her reddened eyes. She stared at the black armor of the Mikougake and she felt her teeth clench together until it hurt her jaw. The thing on her arm was nothing but pain, for her and everyone she was around. In a shout of rage, her right hand crashed towards the ground. The tiled floor underneath her was not strong enough to even withstand a portion of Saya's strength, and it crumbled easily underneath the strength exerted. Saya stared up at her mother and she felt her whole body tense.
Combined with all of her anguish, frustration, and anger, as well as the Mikougake pushing against her mind and thoughts, she could only think of venting her rage against the one person who thought this was all just a funny game. Saya's right hand shook untill she pulled it out of the ground and crouched down against the floor, like an animal about to pounce on its prey. She felt all of her remaining chakra flow around her body, and the Mikougake's almost happiness at her decision. Saya pushed from the floor with all of her remaining stamina, running at her full speed, traveling across the floor in a split second. Both Fredrick and Rera focused on each other, She pushed all of her chakra to the Mikougake and her speed and with a speed she had never achieved before, Saya attacked Rera, swinging at her mother with all of her strength. Despite the fact that she caught her mother by surprise, she still managed to block the initial attack, but Saya continued to smash her sword against Rera's, pushing all of her strength into each blow, hitting against the sword as hard as she could, so she could reach her mother, and feel her blade against her skin. Saya's voice was cracked with her anger as she beat at her mother's sword, "It's all your fault! You did this to me! If it wasn't for you I could be happy! All I want is to be happy with my family! But you couldn't care less! I have never been happy in my life, and it is all thanks to you mother!" She could not stop yelling at Rera, letting all of her feelings and rage pour into her attacks and yelling. _________________

Ukyo looked at Saya with concern as she seemed to be struggling with herself. He could only guess what she was thinking, but he realized one thing - he was lucky not to have a family. It was better not to have anyone who could be close to you, than to be so gravely disappointed in them as he imagined Saya was. Seeing her inner torment was painful for him, but he could not stop to comfort her. He was forming hand seal after another with all the speed he could manage. He felt as if something was leading him on, and he couldn't stop in fear that he would fail. The correct hand seals just appeared in his mind, and he formed them, afraid to miss a single one. What he was about to do was probably unprecedented throughout history. He did not have the right to make a mistake.
Rosu felt absolutely useless. Her father was fighting with Rera, and their clash was so intense that she couldn't get a lock with her bow. Ukyo was performing some strange ninjutsu, and have already formed over three dozen hand seals, but his sight was not set on anything or anyone in the room, as if he was watching something only he could see. Saya... Saya was crying. Rosu was about to ask her what was wrong when her sister started talking out loud. What she said shocked her. Is it really true? Was mother the one to put us through that? Is that what they found out while we weren't here? Rose... - she started talking when Saya suddenly attacked Rera.
Sol was about to unleash another onslaught of attacks upon his former lover when his daughter jumped in. She attacked her mother relentlessly, completely occupying her, or at least that was how it seemed. That gave the bounty hunter a breather, not that he needed it, and a little time to think. Neither of them could defeat Rera. He could probably outlast her in battle, but it would take a couple of hours, and he wasn't sure he would be able to not make a single mistake in that long. But Saya didn't have his stamina, she would be exhausted in mere minutes. Yet for now, she could buy him some time, and he would not let it go to waste. As he concentrated, flames appeared on his hands, and gradually went from fiery orange to white and then blue.
Ukyo wanted to cry out to Saya when she jumped into the battle. What was she thinking? Also, considering all that she said, how could she be so delusional? He couldn't help but rationally analyze her words. Was it really her mother's fault that she couldn't be happy? Not necessarily. She did escape that place when she was just a little kid. She seemed content with her life in the Mist when he found her... so, that meant he was the cause of her current suffering. If he never told her about her mother, she would believe her parents were killed when she was still a baby. She would be much happier then. But then again, she would probably never wake from her coma, or worse, Rosu might have ended up killing both her and Kaeor. All things considered, his appearance in her life wasn't all that bad.
Ukyo clapped his hands together. The sixty-something hand seal sequence was complete. He was ready. Ukyo-sensei? - Rosu asked, looking at him slightly concerned and surprised. I'm ready, - he replied shortly. This was the perfect moment to put his plan into action. Saya was occupying Rera, keeping her unaware of whatever Sol was preparing. I just hope he won't kill her with that move, it looks dangerous, - thought the vampire as he started walking towards the fighting females. Sol! I hope you are sticking to the plan. Get ready, - he said, earning himself a nod from the bounty hunter. All that was left to do is seize the first opportunity to get between Saya and Rera he would get. _________________

With her bitter attack, Saya continued to strike after each one, trying to add more strength into than the last strike. Tears fell from her eyes over her blade and onto her mother. She could care less about it. All of her pain and suffering was caused by a single person. If it wasn't for her having taken Rosu and her from Fredrick, they could have been happy, but instead she wanted nothing more than power, and Saya ended up her chosen way to get that power. She felt a renewed rage when her mother said nothing to her as she continued to strike. She added her left arm, covering her right wrist and swinging down once more.
She felt so much burning inside of her that she could not stop now, even if she felt even a small bit tired. She struck, and with each strike, she spoke a single word, "Why...won't...you...say...anything!" Saya added more words, until she spoke solely to her mother with each strike. All of her words were directed to how much she began to hate Rera for what she had become, "Speak damn you! Speak to me mother! Your daughter wants to know why you decided to use me for your experiements! She wants to know why you would use her for power! She wants to know what happened to her real mother and not this power-hungry!" Another strike, "Demonic!" She smashed down hard again, "Cold-hearted!" Her sword was beginning to crack with each strike, but she never relented, "Harlot of a woman!" Saya's sword cracked even more and she swung one more time, the sword meeting Rera's blade. The Mikougake retreated the blade to make sure it did not break. Saya felt the Mikougake retreat from her mind, and fatigure and weariness, along with her burning passion had all weighed heavily on her. Now she was reduced to standing on shaking legs above her mother, who held her sword in front of her chest, blocking any strike Saya had flung at her. Dark circles rested underneath Saya's molten amber eyes as she stared at her mother. Her breaths came in long ragged intakes and she finally collapsed backwards, ending up sprawled on the ground with the Mikougake still active, next to her mother. Her usual black hair was a bright crimson, crowded around her eyes, hiding her view from her mother's face. _________________

Ukyo kept walking towards the two fighting females when Saya suddenly collapsed on the ground. Sol! At that moment, a wall of fire appeared, circling around Rera, her daughter and the jounin. But it was no normal fire, it was of a light blue color, and did not give off any heat, yet Ukyo realized touching it would be a bad idea. As if to prove it, the Vampire Queen swung her blade at the flames, and the sword became a bit shorter. Tch, how long do you think you can keep this up, Frederick?! Hopefully long enough for me to do what I must. What? Oh, you're in here as well. Do you want to die that badly? Not really, but it is going to be you that dies this day. What? She looked at him, trying to decide whether he was that stupid, ignorant, insane or all of the above, when their eyes met. The vampiress froze in place. He knows... He knows! Stop! Don't come any closer! Or I'll...
She moves her black blade closer to Saya, and a small stream of flame jumps off the wall of fire and onto it. Within a second, Rera remains with just a hilt in her hands. Nice, Sol! - said Ukyo as he glanced back at the bounty hunter, but what he saw made him shiver. It was not Sol, at least not how he normally looked. Instead, it was someone with a demonic look to him: dark blue armor, winged helm and a pair of demonic wings. He noticed that the bounty hunter's headband was lying right next to the creature. So, you are not without dark secrets of your own, Sol... But he could muse upon this matter later. Right now, he needed to do what he planned. This is the end of the line, Rera! - he shouted as he jumped towards the vampiress. She tried to back up, but behind her was the menacing fire. She had nowhere to run. Ukyo landed right next to Rera, between her and Saya, and put his hands on hers. Stay back!! - she cried, and tried to pull away from the jounin, but his grip was firm. I relieve you of your torment, Rera. Just as he said that, a cocoon of black fire formed around the two of them, isolating them from the world.
Several seconds passed before Sol decided it was safe to let the wall of fire die. He picked up his headband and fixed it on his forehead, covering the three glowing yellow dashes that were there. By the time he turned back to human form, Rosu was already by Saya's side, helping her to sit up. He walked up to his daughters and crouched beside them. You alright, Rose? - he asked, a worried look spread across his face. But it was not just her well-being he was concerned about, but also the thing on her arm. It was one of those semi-sentient weapons he heard about from Rera long ago. And as far as he was concerned, these things were evil, pushing their wielder towards battle. His thoughts were interrupted by Rosu's words. What is this thing? He was about to answer when he realized she was looking at the black cocoon. I don't know. We'll just have to wait and see.
Several minutes have passed without anything happening about the cocoon. It was perfectly still, hovering just above the floor. It seemed to be able to remain like that for eternity... when it suddenly popped, both Ukyo and Rera falling to the floor. The vampiress remained still, lying unconscious on the ground, while the jounin struggled to get up. He gave up after deciding that sitting would do. Ukyo-sensei, what- What did you do, vampire? Heh... you'll know once she wakes up. I promise you won't be disappointed. A few more minutes passed before Rera began to move, and Sol instantly tensed. Relax, - said Ukyo, - She is not a threat to us any longer. The vampiress finally sat up, and rubbed her head. Ow, ow, ow... my head... what happened? Wait... where am I? She looks up at the group and jerks backwards. W-Who are you people?! _________________

Saya was breathing heavily as she tried to look around. The Mikougake was taking too much energy to maintain in her state, and so Saya felt the Mikougake retract off of her arm. She was reverted back to her normal form. As if the Mikougake was clouding her strength, Saya removed her hair from her vision and watched her mother stand up. Saya pushed up off the ground with her remaining strength to try and hold onto her mother for whatever needed to be done. She had not noticed the large wall of fire, or the look of fear in Rera's eyes until Ukyo grabbed her hands with his own.
Saya's sight was blocked by the large black cacoon around her mother and Ukyo. She was focused on the cacoon to the point that she did not notice Rosu next to her. Saya stared at her sister as she helped her into a sitting position. She stared at Fredrick as he walked over to them and crouched. Saya looked at the ground and shook her head at his question. She was not alright she could not save her mother, and now she was having to sit there and let Ukyo do whatever it was that he was doing. She did not even speak a word as Rosu questioned the cocoon.
After several minutes, Saya watched as the black pod collapsed. She saw both Ukyo and Rera fall to the floor. Her mother lay unconcious on the ground, while Ukyo struggled to stand. He focused on sitting after figuring out that he could not stand. Saya stared at her mother and she did not know if she could trust Ukyo, or not. She watched as her mother slowly sat up and jerked back at them. She blinked at her mother and could not believe what she was saying. Saya looked dumbfounded and could not stop staring at her mother. Saya pushed her weight forward and leaned on her arms, her body in the all fours position. She began to inch herself towards her mother slowly. She could not stop her heart from pounding in her ears, or her breathing from halting when she reached out her hand towards her mothers, "My name is Saya...I am your daughter." She stared at her mother, only hoping that she truly was normal. _________________

Rosu and Sol looked at Ukyo questioningly, but he could only shrug. Alright, so I knew this could happen... so what? I'm not the one to blame. Ukyo-sensei, what exactly did happen? She lost her memory... Bingo! And yet, not quite correct. You see... At that moment Saya told Rera she was her daughter. What? Do you take me for an idiot?! I believe I would remember if I had a daughter named Saya! How did you charlatans... - she stood up and looked at the group, - No, more importantly, how am I here? I was at home... reading one of those books, when... oh my God! The babies! - she suddenly cried out, covering her mouth with her hands and startling everyone, - What happened to the babies?! And Frederick?! What did you do to them?!! - she shouted and jumped at Sol, hitting him in the chest hysterically. He quickly constrained her by grabbing her arms. Damn it, vampire, what the heck did you do?! She's still in shock, she just needs some time to recollect herself!
Although Ukyo said that, it wasn't quite the truth. There certainly was shock, after she was being subdued by her inner darkness for about nineteen years, she once again had control of her body. For her, it was like a coma, and her senses were probably just settling in. Rera, Rera! Look at me! Look at me! The woman struggled to break free of Sol's grip, crying something illegible and probably illiterate, until she finally looked him in the face. Then, she froze. F-Fr-Frederick... you look... Aged? She slowly nodded and then wrapped her arms around his shoulders. You're alright... I'm so glad... but, the babies? Where are they? They're right h- They're perfectly fine, I assure you. Now let's all just take a deep breath, calm down and sit down. With some hesitation, everyone followed his advice, Rera resting her head against Sol's shoulder. Ukyo sighed. He had a lot of storytelling to do.
Alright, I understand that everybody here is confused and probably feeling other unpleasant emotions. Let me explain... try to explain everything. I'll start at the beginning... As most of us present know, this all started approximately nineteen years ago. What? Nineteen years? What do you mean? I shall explain... but before that, Rera-san, you said you were at home reading some books... what books were they? He looked at the vampiress warmly. Of all the people present, this story will hit her the hardest. They... I can't tell you. It's a... family secret. Rera-san, it is very important that you answer every question I will ask here. Surely you already realized that most of us present are not exactly human, just like yourself. But where did you- All shall be explained in this story, but for it to be complete, I need you to answer the question. Well? Rera looked to the floor and then said, in a stuttering voice: Those books belonged to my ancestors. They held a lot of information about my kind. That night, I was reading one of the... forbidden ones. What I found there... it was horrible. And then...
And then your inner demon took over. What? How do you... yes, it did. I... had trouble with it. It appeared when I first used the forbidden power... and grew stronger with every day. I was hoping to find a cure in one of those books... but instead, I found something that made it assault me relentlessly. It was so strong... I never realized how much stronger I made it by using the forbidden power. And I was tired... She buried her face in Sol's chest, but it was apparent that she was crying. You lost. But it didn't stop at the usual point of control. Instead of immediately taking over the body, thus creating an opening for you to use in the future, it focused on suppressing your mind, and then, using your weakened state, sealed you within your own subconscience, essentially killing you as a person. It had to go that far, otherwise, you would be able to break free once it started acting. But... how do you know all of this? I will explain later. The story continues as the demon, now in full control of your body, adds poison to Sol's supper. It then takes your daughters and runs away, after burying Sol under the destroyed house. But- Patience, Rera-san, patience.
Out story continues when the demon decides that actually growing your daughters would be a bother, and leaves them with a foster family, and then retreats to this hideout. However, it does not stop researching into the past of your race, and soon finds a book about something called "living weapons". After reading it, the demon realizes that this could further increase its power, but all data on the subject was lost, and to create something like that, it had to do research, on living vampires at that. Not being a scientist itself, the demon soon discovers a group that handles human research. It leads them to the village your daughters were left in, making sure they would be found and used as test subjects. It then starts financing this particular research, every so often coming to check on the progress.
Rera's face gradually became white as Ukyo kept talking. She was horrified by all the things she did... maybe it was not really her, but her inner demon was her responsibility, so it was just as if she did it. ...apparently, some of the experiments suppressed their blood, and they became undetectable for the demon. Until a major incident that happened in the laboratories. After that, it regained track of one of them, Rose to be precise. But with Sol on the hunt, it could not risk leaving this... safe haven. So the demon started looking for someone to do the job... and soon found a person, yours truly. Ukyo continued the story, all that happened afterwards, up until the moment he formed the black cocoon around Rera and himself. Well, that's it. Oh, and now to answer your question, how I know about all of this... well, you probably already figured it out. You couldn't feel the presence of your inner demon since you woke up, could you? Rera was shaking. All the things that happened... all that the dark conscience inside of her did... she could not bear it. You... took it... but... did you... know...? Oh, yes, I was aware of that. I was willing to make this sacrifice though, - he smiles at her weakly and glances at Saya. I see... then...? Yes. And you...? Yes. The true...? Yes! - he said, a little color forming on his cheeks. She smiled at him weakly and then looked to the ground again. Nineteen years... no... that is not what's important... all those things... I... you... you should have... just killed me. I do not deserve... forgiveness. It is... all my fault, - she starts shaking again, weak sobs escaping her mouth. _________________

Saya felt a twinge of pain course through her body when Rera jerked away, claiming that she was not her daughter. She could only look away, feeling betrayed, even if she was just trying to kill her mother minutes before. Saya just sat there as Rera spoke with Ukyo and Sol. She never even bothered to speak. She was stuck in that small time frame of how her mother said she was not her daughter. It was no doubt the poor timing on her part, but she could not help but stare at her mother, hoping she would recognize her eventually. For heaven's sake, Saya looked like her own mother in various ways, her voice was even close to hers, less mature and more pure. Saya sighed, and watched her mother carefully.
While they spoke, Saya could not help but think to herself, 'Ninteen years, she was sealed within herself for ninteen years? Never aware of what was happening around her? If she is truly free of her burden, then how...?' Her answer came when Ukyo said that he sacrificed his own body to be the host of her evil. Saya looked at his eyes when he looked at her. She could not voice anything, only look away from him, 'Why would he do that for Rera...or was it for her at all? Did he save Rera and take her darkness...for me?' Saya shook her head and stared at Ukyo. Only for a short minute before Rera began to speak about how they should have just killed her.
Saya felt something burn inside of her, "I would have sacrificed myself before I would let that happen. After I faught to keep you alive and try and turn you away from your darkness, and having to be saved over and over again, and not being to help at all." Saya felt her hand tighten into a weak fist that she could not put any power behind, "I have been nothing but a burden to everyone and I want that to end. I am your daughter, and you are my mother. I have never felt the love of my parents, because I was taken from them by a demon. I was made to suffer my entire life, and even up to this point I can't sleep without having a nightmare. All I want is a family, to be happy, even if for just a day. Not suffer and be a burden anymore."
Saya stared at her mother and father, "Do you believe me now? My real name is Rose. I am your daughter. You wanted to sacrifice me for power just minutes before, and no matter how much I tried, I could do nothing to stop you." Saya stared at her family and Ukyo, feeling almost as if she did not belong. When would someone accept her word for once? _________________

Rosu walked up to her sister and put a hand on her shoulder. Rose... Ukyo sighed. Saya was like an old record, always wailing about how she was of no use. She was still young and naive. Otherwise, she would realize that it was her effort that allowed him and her father to pull this thing off. But her thought process was probably still much like a child's, who can only appreciate their own effort if they do something on their own. That was not how the world worked. But that was a lesson she should learn on her own. Ah, geez... I hate soap operas. Oh yeah? And who was playing along just a minute ago? Either way... it's touching... the family, finally reunited... don't you think? Hey, are you crying?
Rera was still crouched beside Sol, still shaking slightly. I know... Rose, Lily, - she said, looking at Saya, then Rosu, and then faced Sol once again, - Frederick. But, how can you ever forgive me...? I know I cannot. It's alright, Rera. It was not your fault. We're all here now, that is what matters. But it was my fault! Because of me... my imprudence, my fear... I let it out, when it was my responsibility to keep it under control. It was all my fault that you all suffered for all these years... even Ukyo... Eh, I don't mind. And you people need to learn to see the bright side to things. So I was turned into a vampire, which brought about a bunch of physical and emotional suffering... but if I wasn't, I'd never get to meet Saya... or Rosu, or even Sol, and I would never be able to learn so many secrets of this world. And you, Saya, - he turns to the girl, - You keep saying you're nothing more than a burden to others. That is not true, but even if it was, you should be happy, because it means there are people who care about you. Unlike many others, you should be able to appreciate it accordingly.
Rera looked at Ukyo with a bit of surprise and respect. He was young, practically a toddler compared to her, but his words held wisdom. Of course, it was easier to judge from the sidelines, but still... she slowly got up and walked towards Saya and Rosu. Your words are true, Ukyo... but how can I be forgiven? She stops beside her daughters and smiles, small tears forming in her eyes. Look at you two... you're all grown up. The last time I saw you, you were sleeping peacefully in your cradle... and to think that we never got any pictures... how sad. She wrapped her arms around the girls and pulled them closer. Sol walked up to Rera and put his hands on her shoulders.
Ukyo watched the strangest of families embrace one another. Feeling left out? Don't get mushy on me now. Don't be ridiculous. I... I don't- You are not going to give up, are you? ...you're right. What does giving up ever do? It's not like I can just cast aside re- Man, that stuff is so lame. Only good for love stories. Too bad it seems to really work. Yeah, I guess. He looked as Rera hugged her daughters. She was frighteningly insightful, that woman. Well, it didn't take a genius to figure out that he didn't just take her inner demon because he felt like it. There was an eighty percent chance of death, after all. Not that the others knew it. But how did she know it was re- Don't! Don't say that word, man. It makes me sick. Alright, but still, how did she know it was... it? Give her some credit, Ukyo. She is very old, surely she knows something about people... vampires... whatever.
Ukyo watched the reunited family with a feeling of longing. He wished he could be reunited with his family. And for something more important: he wished he had people he belonged with. Alas... he certainly did not belong with Sol or Rera. Rosu, she was just a student, one that he could teach nothing more. And Saya... she was most likely in love with Kaeor, and he couldn't blame her for that. And what did he do for her? Practically nothing. Well, my work here is done, - he thought, smiling to himself, and... Stop, just stop, man. You can't just leave now. Well- Don't try and talk to me about this. What are you? A fairy tale hero? Who, after saving some people from an awful fate, just mysteriously disappears? And has legends told about him? I- Shut up! You said you hated soap operas. Then don't make this one! He's right you know. Oh, alright... _________________

None of hte events preceding up to this were of any concern to Saya. Even how much she hated being so weak. As her mother walked towards her, she could not focus on anything else but her mother's figure as she came closer to her. Even the fact that Rosu standing next to her, her own twin sister, escaped her mind as her mother's arm embraced her. Saya hugged back, shaking her head against her mothers bosom, having wanted nothing but this for the longest time. She cried with her mother, her tears burning against her mother's black dress. She could not help the joy of this moment that coursed through her body, even as she thought about it, 'I might not be the strongest there is, but I don't care...I have my mother now.' She wrapped her hands around her mother's back, despite her weakened state and squeezed, despite the fact that it was a weak embrace. She could not have cared that she was so weak to properly embrace her mother.
Saya tried to stop her tears to look at her mother's face, so like her own, as if she was a copy. Saya pulled away from her mother's body to look fully at her night sky eyes. She felt as if she was staring at the sky at night during a cloudless night. She smiled gently and hugged her again, "Mother...I know that it is late in human years...but...well...I want to know more about my heritage. I want to learn more about being a vampire. If I am one I want to make sure nothing happens to me that could hurt me in the future." Saya did not have to look behind Rera to feel Sol's presence, so she merely spoke in a soft tongue, "Father...please train me. You are so strong and powerful. If I could turn out as strong as you then I might be able to do something useful for the future. My life is drawn to battle...I know it is and I want to be prepared for it. Please father, will you?" _________________
