Bethany is holding some panels together, helping Dharma while she's constructing a puppet accessory. The panels cover a crytal that is held up by a frame and has an array of smaller crytals and mirrors around it. "Alright," She screws the panel into place, which cover the main setup of the crystals and lens. The outer part of this device was a bit shabby, she wanted to make sure her device works before she did anything more elaborate. "Help me get this on the tripod, Bethany." "Sure, but what's the magic word?" Dharma rolls her eyes, "Please." Bethany giggles and helps her lift the gadget onto it's tripod. After setting it down, Dharma hits some switchs which lock it into place. She connects some special wire that are attached to a large chakra storage crystal.

"First test of the chakra cannon protype, commence." Dharma says, pulling out a notepad. She writes a few thing in it and then puts it back in her tool belt. Bring her hands up and putting them together, she makes three handseals and holds the last. A blue glow can be seen emitting from the cracks in the panels, which are purposely there for venting purposes. The front end is open to allow a beam of charka to be fired out of it. "Stand clear!" Bethany jogs to where she's behind the cannon, and Sandaasu follows behind her. "Fire!" The panels towards the front are burst off. The beam is a bit wide and the range is pathetic for a beam of that type. "...Good thing I brought spare parts for this thing. Time for a revamp,"

She carefully approachs the prototype, just in case it had some more energy or something. Standing next to the busted cannon, she puts on some thick gloves. "I'm suprised that didn't damage the tripod as well." Bethany comments. "Yea, but it is the most durable thing over here." Taking off some more panels, she looks at the crystal array. The system had some parts missing and other parts are knocked out of sync. Her memory kicks in, "Wait a minute. The crystal setup was out of sync before I fired the weapon. Bethany, get the repair kit for me. Please." "Hai, imoto-san." she answers, grabbing the large kit. She was going to grab it with one arm, but found that it was too heavy for her to deal with it that way. She grabs it with both hands, "This is heavy, how may time are you expecting to repair that thing? Dharma takes the toolbox from her. "I really don't know. But better safe than sorry."

After carefully looking at the cannon, she pulls out replacement parts for the destroyed ones. She even makes sure to replace the parts that are still there but are just burned out. "A bit ridiculous, for me to make such a mistake." She set the replacements inside the cannon, making sure they are secure in their spots. She also makes sure the the parts are in the appropriate positions. "No need to destroy more panels, I'm not replacing them. All the beam control happens within the cannon anyways. Ok, keep and eye on the emitter with me." she puts her gloves in her tool belt and takes the notepad out. She makes a note about a big 'do not try' concerning the chakra cannon. Charka in it's true form is invisible, but as part of it being amplified for this device causes it to become visible to the human eye. In essence, it's not chakra itself but a type of chakra. Forming handseals once again, she fires the cannon.

A large part of this jutsu is based off the users control in the first place. The better you are at it, the less complicated the inside of the cannon had to be. When she fires this time, the cannon glows faintly then energy courses through it and it overloads before firing appropriately. "Oh great, now there something wrong with the way I'm powering it." Dharma puts her gloves back on, and pulls some tools out of the toolbox. She checks the connection to the storage crystal. While not being built as effienctly as it should be, the problem wasn't with it. It charge slowly because of how it's connected, but that was to be expected. It was chakra, not eletricity and the wired itself was experimental. After thinking for a while, Dharma realizes the problem was a combination of the way the array was set up and the way she channeled charka into it. Of course the handseal wouldn't be needed for the finish product, just the ability to circulate chakra into them.

Once again Dharma finds herself replacing parts of the cannon. This time it was needed even more, as the backlash of the surge damage just about the whole thing. She carefully replaces each major part, and readjusts the feed to the chakra crystal. She slaps herself when she finishs with it. "Of course, I was trying to 'remotely' activate it by generating chakra in it's general direction." She take back out the notepad and writes some more things in it. Placing it in her belt, she extends her left hand towards the charka storage crystal. Three chakra strings attach themselve to the cannon, and two attach to the storage crystal. Grinning, she preceeds to explain. "The problem was control, which is solved by me being more closely connected with it. The main model is going to be able to pull chakra out of you or the storage in it. Either way, you are going to be connected to it which allows for better manipulation."[/color] Bethany smiles, glad that Dharma had figured it out. Once again the cannon glows slightly after being activated. It fires a steady beam out, hitting the target that they had set up in the field ahead. "The main model is ready to be built." Dharma detachs herself from the cannon, "Keep in mind that the cannon has recoil, and even while firing it you should make sure it stays steady." This last part wasn't meant to address Bethany, she was talking out loud as she made her final note.

The next day, Dharma decides to work farther on her puppet skills. The nexy skill will be trickery for her, how was she going to make a puppet following commands? Well first of all she'd need a storage crystal so they wouldn't need the puppeteer. Secondly... Well she didn't know quite how yet but she'd have to figure out how to put directions on a scroll for a puppet to follow. She looks over the different manuals and scrolls she has spread out on her desk. Dharma isn't the only one to try and make an indepently moving puppet. Others have tried before and she had every resource of information that was available. "Here's something, wait no. That's about giving puppet actual life. Such a frivalous endeavor unless you have a soul to put in it. Not something that you could just easily find." She had some empty scrolls besides her, as well as a small brush and some writing ink. She pulls out a small scroll and writes 'Circle around the building' on it in special characters.

She picks up the simple puppet next to her, and puts the scroll into a specially designed compartment. She gives it a slight burst of chakra, which is supposed to activate the desired effect. The puppet just sits there inanimate, but she expected that. Putting the puppet on the desk, she looks at the special chamber in it. Taking the scroll out, she looks in the compartment itself. That didn't work, hmm. She continues to look at it a litte while longer, then turns around to her right. Dharma picks up a large book and uses it to push over the puppet. Placing the book on the table, she goes right to a marked section in it. Command seals, let's see. If you can temporarily animate a dead body without using a forbidden technique, you can make a puppet do an errand. Except with that you directly control the body...

Bethany brings in some tea, pushing a small table beside Dharma. She set it down on the table. "It's been a while since I've seen that look on your face sister. "False life isn't easy to emulate. Especially without getting into the darker of jutsu. Besides, I want the puppet to perform a simple chore not live. Though I could hear the horror stories now. Bethany chuckles, "The mad scientist of Konoha. And her sidekick Dr. Horror. Or something like that." "Heh, well anyways, thanks for the tea." "No problem, I'll be around. Yell if you need me. Bethany bows and exits. Dharma stops for a couple of minutes to pour herself some tea, putting a bit of lemon zest in it. Then she keeps looking through the reading material that's covering her desk. She felt the burning of a question unanswered and diligently looked for the solution in her resources.

"Wait a tick, the Red Scorpion's Hyakki no Souen. In order to do that he produced chakra strings from his chest. I just need to figure out how to make a scroll produce the strings. Still not a walk in the park, but at least I know what I need to do now." She knock half the stuff off her desk, swearing she would pick it up later. She guts the puppet of it's storage crystal and places it on the table. Taking a small scroll, she writes 'go around the house once' in special characters on the scroll. She then wraps it around the storage crystal. Nothing happens when she tries activating it. Of course it wasn't housed in the puppet so nothing was going to happen, save for chakra strings springing from the scroll. Deciding not to worry about actually writing a command she moves on to work out a way for the scroll to produce chakra threads.
