Smiling, the young puppeteer stood up, and leaned taner against the bench, giving him a very human pose, rather relaxed, unattentive, almost asleep.

The dark skinned shinobi then built a blueprint in his head, figuring where each string would have to be to manipulate the many mechanisms. He muttered under his breath, naming each gear wire and plate that built the puppet. He decided to start with basic movement, and decided the five points which he would need to connect to to control the puppet.

Having decided where to place the strings, the young shinobi pushed his hair from his eyes, knowing he'd need his full attention to do this, and couldn't be distracted by a stray dread. He focused his chakra, moving it through his body like water, pushing it to his finger tips and allowing it to flow. And flow it did, it even dripped from the tips of his fingers.

"I don't think that's right..." he muttered, cutting the chakra flow, trying to understand how he messed up.

Kinserei then tried once more to focus his chakra, this time seeing it not as water flowing through his body, but thread being weaved through his limbs, into his hand, and out his finger tips. He smiled as the thread began to ease out of the spark which had manifested on the tip of each finger. He then pushed the chakra threads, causing them to connect to the puppet. He smiled as he felt the puppet as an extension of himself.

"Wow, now lets see what your capable of Tanzer!"

Now that the dark skinned teeen had attached his strings to the puppet, he began to twitch his fingers experimentally. It was a little awkward at first, but he quickly got the hang of it. After a few moments, he merely had to will the action, and it was done. He formed a few more strings, connecting them to the more complex facila mechanisms, and went through a wide variety of facial expressions.

"Well, now then Tanzer, lets go home and fetch some of your friends so I can improve my skill a little bit!"

Kinserei quickly ran to the small house he 'shared' with his parents, although it was rare that they would be home. The average sized, brick building was so familiar to the boy. He used to run like this after school, racing to see if his grandfather had built anything interesting. But now, the house was empty, except for Kinserei's puppets. Kinserei threw the door open, silently cursing himself for not locking it, and leaped down the stairs, the entire time Tanzer followed behind him.

Kinserei found what he was looking for, a large collection of Tanzer dolls. He connected a few strings to several puppets, and after a bit of wrestling with the seemingly unresponsive puppets, he found his limit, for the moment, was three. So he used his strings to manipulate three of the puppets, while two of them had another puppet slung over their shoulders, giving him a total of five.

He then marched the three upstairs, finding it more difficult then manipulating one puppet. He had to put a little more effort into it, but by the time he had returned to town square he had once again found that it came as though it was second nature.

He managed to get all five puppets standing on their own, a feet which required a bit of ingenuity and balance on his part, and then set to work. Using his tools, he approached each puppet individually. Each one had its screws tightened, its joints oiled, its insides dutsed, and every mechanism was tested to ensure it was in working order.

Once that was accomplished, he had found one of the puppets he had pulled from the pile had an extra head in its chassie. He found that odd, and placed it on the ground, the neck hole facing up. Someone was walking by with a violin, apparantly having just had the strings fixed, when he saw the young boy.

"Hey, kid, can you use those puppets, like a ninja does?"

Kinserei nodded sheepishly, "I'm training, at the moment I can only use three."

The man smiled. "I'm a traveling musician, and I am a bit down on my luck. Tell ya what, if you 'train' in tune to my music, well split any tips we get!" the musician extended his hand, and after a moments consideration, Kinserei shook the mans hand and stood. He decided, why not?

Before the man began playing, Kinserei had moved two of his puppets out of the way, knowing he couldn't use the yet, why bother? The musician did a quick warm up, and he was off, playing a fast, dramatic battle song. Kinserei instantly joined in, every sudden note being complimented by a 'smack' of wood on wood, as two of his puppets sparred hand to hand. The motions were quicker than what Kinserei was used to, and required more concentration then then simply walking or running.

The song which the musician was playing was perfect to train to, as it was constantly repeating, yet it sped up every so often, which kept the puppet master from falling into monotony. Finally, and unexpectedly, the song stopped. In its place was a softer mysterious song. Kinserei followed the music by having his third puppet walk up, rather dramatically, and the three circled each other. The 'challenger', the third puppet, drew his katana in a cloud of smoke. The other two puppets did the same, and just in time for their battle the music began to speed up.

The puppets lived up to their name, which meant dancer, and Kinserei managed to choreograph the perfect battle.

As his skill increased, he added a fourth puppet into the fray, and even utilized the shuriken seals which each puppet had, carefully launching shuriken from one puppet to the next, as the music became more frantic, so did the battle.

Finally, in the final crescendo of the music, four of the puppets brought their swords together and 'killed' the challenger. As the music came to and end, the puppet fell, reached up to the sky, as though he could see heaven, and fell lifeless. The other three puppets sheathed their swords and bowed at the now applauding crowd.

As the crowd of villagers applauded, Kinserei felt a rush unlike any he had ever expierienced. The musician walked up behind him, pushed him forward, and cried "Take a bow, puppet master!" The young boy, who was a little startled by this, looked around nervously, but finally just went with it.

"Encore, Encore, Encore!" the crowd screamed. The musician gave Kinserei a lite nod, and the boy returned to his place behind the puppets. The three that had 'won' the battle left the stage, just as a fifth came up to the stage, kneeling next to the dead puppet. The music started sad, as the 'apprentice' mourned his 'master', but slowly shifted as the mourning puppet found his masters sword, and lifted it, vowing to avenge his fallen master.

As the 'apprentice drew his sword, in additin to the sword of his master, the crowd grew silent. The other three puppets emerged from the shadows, their weapons already drawn. In a scene strait from a bad movie, the three puppets attacked one at a time, lunging at the center puppet only to be deflected by his dual blades. Finnally the three puppets realized what they were doing wrong, and jumped all at once. Just as they were about to kill the other puppet, the 'master' rose from the ground, and took the swords a seconed time, protecting his student.

At this point the music became sad again, as the apprentice felt the pain of losing his master a second time. A few of the more emotional corwd members began to sob, others were completely lost.

As the master died again, his facial features carefully disorted in pain, the apprentice, in a quick series of attacks, decapitated the other three puppets. And the song ended.

The crowd cheered once more, as all five puppets stood to bow, some after putting their head back on.

As the crowd dispersed, most people dropped a bit of money in the upturned puppet head. "How was that for training, boy?" the musician smiled.

"That was the most fun I've had in ages! If we ever run into each other again, we should do it again!" Kinserei beamed, grinning from ear to ear. The musician counted out the tips, and handed Kinserei a large stack of bills.

"There's your cut, 275 ryo. Seems the crowd loved your little performance. Oh, and here is your puppet head back..." the musician harefully handed him the now epty, human like head. He then waved as he walked off, disappearing into the crowd.

Kinserei turned to his five puppets. "You guys are covered in scratches. Come on, lets go fix you up." he smiled, leading them home.
