There was no way she could be in the village. Not today at the very least, not after that strange event the other day. Stupid scene was still replaying in her mind and was becoming impossible to delete with the marathon going. Thus the day found her outside of the village. Not far enough to worry people of her leaving â€“ as if anyone really knew her beyond a few and likely the other two had forgotten her anyways. The stranger part was how she left the village as somehow, someway, she opened a door out of seemingly nowhere in mid tripping. Rather than landing face flat on the street in the village, she'd face planted into some empty road in a place filled with houses. The feel of the place overall had terrified her, so ghostly and ghastly, that she'd ran through the first door she could find and fell onto lovable and wonderful grass.

Kissing the sweet plants a few times she finally began trudging through the forested area not far from the village, done with her dramatizing. Being out here, it was hard not to remember that other guy she'd met from her village...his name started with a C but it'd been awhile now, and some girl she was still trying to forget. She was probably about as out of it as Vieux, but in a bad way, or at least towards Cielle given the threatening auras. And that poor squirrel...had he ever gotten the senbon out of his tail or had it gotten him killed somehow?

Worry with a mix of guilt poured through her as she recalled the unfortunate animal attacked by that damn girl! For all she knew he was currently-

-Kicking a wild dog's ass?! What Cielle happened upon was one of those moments of nature that you wish you could record just to prove others it happened when you regaled the tale. The beginnings of the scene were lost on her, but as the dog lunged for him, a few slash marks visible on its face, the squirrel took a great leap of its own. Jumping only high enough to dodge the lunge it came back down quickly, digging its tiny claws into the skin of the mutt, one claws hand reaching for its tail as the fuzzy mass swung around, senbon still in place. As a story about a boy, a stone, and a giant went, this was the Animal Planet equivalent. Part of the senbon needle in tiny hand, it became a spear for him to wield. The wild dog had about a second of recognition of what was to take place before the needle was driven through the eye, a second's worth of a yelp before it drove further on into the brain. Not quite done it drove it in a few more times for good measures, until the dog's body stopped twitching, and gave a visible huff of annoyance.

The beady little eyes scanned around in search of its acorn it'd launched earlier and instead came to rest on the human girl a few feet off. Now, it could have taken the same approach to her as the dog...but didn't. Why? Because people, especially the females, equaled free food - discounting the girl who'd unwittingly armed him and made him the superior one amongst the forest squirrels. So his next move was clear: race up to about a foot away from the girl and chatter cutely in the hopes she carried acorns on her person. He pretended to clean his tail a few times, ignoring the plain-as-day senbon needle in it, flitter his claws about in some allusion to dancing, and many other things that made most girls go "Aww."

'Oh my gods its kind of like Vieux...at least in the way he doesn't acknowledge his stranger actions for what they are...and does it want a nut or something?' The sight was still hard for her brain to comprehend, considering there was a body of a wild dog not far from this squirrel putting on a cute act. Instinct compelled her to check on the dog, but even from here she could see some of the foam build up in its mouth and knew it had been doomed for a while now. Looking about quickly she spied a nut not far from her person and quickly held it out to him, scuttling past him once he was lovingly hugging it. Walking to the dog's body she knew she couldn't leave a diseased animal laying about in case other creatures contracted rabies from it, but where? She had no shovel, and wasn't affiliated with the earth. A chattering caught her attention as the squirrel had put the nut down in order to attempt some mix of verbal and hand sign communication. Since it appeared to have some idea she walked over to it, only for the little guy to go bounding off, the acorn wrapped in its tail, balanced between it and the senbon.

About fifteen yards away it led her to a dead and rotting tree, and her eyes lit up with immediate understanding. "Oh right, I don't have to burry him," immediately she reached out to start breaking off limbs and gathering up some that had already fallen. Gathering what she thought to be sufficient she noticed the squirrel had ran off, a bit sad at seeing the strange little fellow go off so early. Squirrels would be squirrels, and thus, quick to disappear though, and she had to worry about some easy fire starter or risk using some of her bandages to get the fire going.

Getting back to the scene of the crime, Cielle began arranging the sticks and branches around him, breaking some larger pieces as necessary until she was sure she could get a decent bonfire going. About to reach into her larger pouch a chattering squeak caught her attention, and to her amazement there he was! With some dead weeds! Flashing a smile and giving a quick "Thanks!" she placed it at the heart of the pile so that it could spread better, the squirrel running off to get more, so she presumed, should they require it. In the mean while she used a rock and a kunai to get the necessary sparks until the weeds finally took to the flame, lighting up and surprising her as she fell back. With their combined teamwork - Cielle feeding the weeds around the fire to extend it around the dog, and the squirrel gathering the weeds quickly - they made quick work of the diseased corpse to prevent other carnivores from gaining its disease.

"Well, we're not big heroes, but at least he won't share his cooties...I mean germs." By the sounds of his squeaking this time it was probably laughter. Strange, did squirrels know what "cooties" were? His fuzzy tail twitched and the glint of the sunlight off the senbon needle caught her eyes: it was filthy. More than likely it'd lead to disease, especially since it had the blood of the infected dog still on it, and more than that probably hurt whenever he used it. The moment her hand went for it, however, he jumped away - acorn in hand - and looked wary, wondering if he should prepare to chuck nut and run...

'Err...how to go about this...' "Okay, not trying to harm you, but I do have to at least sterilize the senbon needle or you risk infection. Do you...want...to keep it?" Even more amazing was that he seemed to consider this proposal, though nodded at her question. Hesitantly Cielle reached out her hands to grasp him...and then took hold when he didn't run for the nearest tree, the fire by this point dying down to simple embers and ashes. A lake nearby, possibly the one that Kumo nin - oh, Coryn! - had fished so she could learn some of her Ijutsu, provided the perfect place to rinse the dried blood and caked on dirt before she applied some of the disinfectant she carried around. It looked a bit better, though could use some better polishing than her shirt...

There was no proper way to judge the overall health of the squirrel, however, and she wasn't a veterinarian so there might be diseases to be checked out and treated, or an infection on the tail - though it looked fine. The little fellow wriggled free from her grasp, racing around and up her arm to perch upon her shoulder and then moved up into her hair, playing with one of the smoke bombs painted to look like hair ornaments.

There was an inkling in his fur he might not like the next destination, but this girl had fun trinkets in her hair and understood his greatness so surely he'd tag along to see what would come of this combination. Hopefully better things than flea infested mongrels, and more nuts with places to store them from thieving hands.

Unsure but deciding to try anyways, Cielle now tried to get the portal to appear on whim, blinking in surprise when it did. The squirrel stared at it and accepted it with all of the worldly acceptance a squirrel could possess: it existed, therefore it was natural. Walking through it, Cielle wondered aloud, "Hm...wonder what I should name you..." before the portal closed up behind the duo.
