[For the record I plan for this to be 2 rank trainings]
Jotaro Kujo, the boy fresh out of the ninja academy and now ready to face the harsh new world. Most people wouldn't expect that he was a new genin due to his age and appearance, but the truth simply was that he had went into the academy late due to his parents needing to build up a bit of money to send him off to the ninja academy and pay for the full few years of training. The fact that they trusted him enough to live on his own in a new place and get through school work without them hassling him gave him courage and strength and was what really pushed his drive to carry on. As he stepped out of his small apartment room he looked around it. Sure he had managed to pass the academy with flying colors and impress most of the village, but Jesus, this place was a mess. He gave it pretty much an 'oh well' sigh and stepped out the door with a duffel bag. He would be leaving Iwagakure for a few days or so to return to his home village out in the Land of Stone. He hadn't seen his parents in years and only managed to communicate with them through letters. He of course also had many old friends and people from around there he wanted to see again.
He hadn't really learned any new techniques since leaving the academy so all he had going for him on this journey was of course his wits, the basics, and a few simple tools. Smug as usual though, Jotaro was more than one hundred percent sure he'd be fine on this trip. By his calculations this journey would be a day or so, more or less anyway. HE waved to the shinobi standing gaurd at the gate and they in turn returned the kind gesture as he stepped out. Looking up at the steep mountain that surrounded the village he knew his first test. Now of course there was a clear cut path he could've just walked through to get away from the gates of the village, but he didn't want to be away for a few days and get no work done at all. If he was going to spend so much time traveling anyway, he might as well get some actual training in too. He flung the strap of the duffel bag under his arm as he looked one of the small cliffs up and down. He decided he'd just go ahead and climb one of the smaller ones on the edge rather than one of the enormous cliffs along the rim.
The reason for this was of course so he didn't tire himself out before he even managed to get any travel distance. He still had an entire trip to get done of course. Besides, training light from the start was something that they were always taught back in the academy. Placing a single hand forward on to the rocky surface he could finally get a good feel for how this would need to be done. He could finally calculate the need for weight shifts and by how much. He now moved his other hand onto the surface followed by both of his feet. As the first hand steadily moved up and got a hold of something he could feel how loose this rock was. If he even put the tiniest bit of his weight onto it chances were it would break and he could end up falling. Of course by this point he had only moved about 2 feet off the ground so falling would be no problem at all, though it was best to get an idea of what was safe and what wasn't from the start instead of later on where it could actually have some dangerous consequences. he moved his hand over more and more until he felt he had finally managed a good hold and pulled his body up slowly.
Things went well for a while, Jotaro had managed to keep up a good rhythm and hadn't fallen so far. There were of course a few close calls here and there, but nothing too horrible. So far he had spent about thirty minutes scaling the side of this thing. Now to most people that would seem like a waste of time when he could've just walked through the walk way but Jotaro knew these mountains, this wasn't his first time climbing one of them. If he actually managed to scale this one he could walk across and save himself about an hour and a half of walking if he did use the path. Now the main problem he was having was his stamina. Jotaro was never some kind of huge Taijutsu master or physically strong. Not to say he was incredibly weak, but this kind of thing wasn't his forte. He could feel his arms beginning to weaken the longer this went. Now was the time to pick up the pace for slow and steady would just cost him more time and the more time that was spent, the weaker he got.
Jotaro knew that eventually as he continued training that climbing up walls like this wouldn't be needed. He had done a bit of research on ninja techniques and knew all about the wall walking technique as well as the water walking technique. Though this wasn't about just climbing a wall, this was about growing stronger and proving himself. Passing the academy was just the start, the life he was living would only continue to grow more difficult and more dangerous. Now was the time to be improving his skill and proving his worth, not later. If he wasn't meant to be a shinobi then Jotaro wouldn't mind if he just fell and died right then and there. The fact that he was still alive still meant to him that he had purpose in life. In his haste to scale the wall he grabbed a loose rock and lost his grip. His body suddenly lurched back behind him and he was now hanging by just on hand. His duffel bag ended up sliding down his free arm and he hadto lean a bit more prevent it from falling.
He knew this was dangerous, but his bag pretty much held all his valuables. As he took hold of it a single drop of sweat fell from his forehead and went plummeting to the ground. By this point Jotaro felt that he was at least 80 or so feet off the ground but only another 40 or so feet from reaching the top of this thing. There was no turning back at this point, he would reach the top! He stuck another hand forward and shoved one of his feet right into the rocky exterior of the wall for balance. His arms were getting strained and tired but he continued to push. If they gave out now he was definitely a goner. His breathing at this point had become heavy and he was no taking in large gasps for breath. He had only climbed these cliffs a couple times before and that was back with a few friends who could watch his back and help each other. This wasn't a test though, there were no harnesses or safety nets below him. Time slowly moved forward and within another twenty minutes or so, Jotaro had managed to put his final hand at the top and pulled his body over.
He clambered up over the edge and rolled onto his back. Haha, I made it!' He said in between heaving breaths. _________________ [quote="OzanaruSyra"]

Jotaro rose to his feet once more. He stayed up there resting for about 5 minutes or so, but he had to continue moving. He was making great time so far and didn't want to ruin that. He ran across the top of the cliffs, not willing to take a look down over the edges. It wasn't that he was afraid of height or anything, but he'd still rather not know the extremity of his altitude. Leaping over a few chasms and gorges he soon made it to the end of one edge of the cliffs and making his way downward into something like that of a forested area. It was mid day at this point, but due to the thick canopy of the tree above him the inside of this forest was completely dark, almost as if it was night time. Many travelers chose not to go through this area due to how dangerous it was. They said the animals around here were vicious and that there were small criminals usually lurking around here. Jotaro wasn't frightened in the least by this however. Whatever might be lurking in here he knew he could handle. Just because he wasn't a taijutsu expert didn't mean they didn't teach him some skill in the academy.
He first walked through the area steadily and slowly, this was to let his eyes adjust to this darkness. If he would just blindly rush through here from the start anything could happen, even running straight of a cliff. It took a couple of minutes, but his eyes soon adjusted to the darker atmosphere. It was of course nowhere near as good as actual night vision, but it would be enough to get him through the area. He eyed the area, the coast seemed clear for now anyway. He gathered his things and began to move. He wanted to get out of here as soon as possible, this place made him feel too vulnerable to any kind of unseen attack that could be sent his way.
As he walked past a tree a flock of birds suddenly scattered. To Jotaro this was of course nothing. He had gotten to close so they got some distance away from him, it was normal for birds to do this. It didn't get odd until another tree ahead of him had done it, then one behind him. In no time at all most of the trees around him had birds flocking away from him. he stood in place as he began to feel like the only form of life still around. Something big was happening. There was sudden rustling in a nearby tree, then another. He turned behind him and was suddenly tackled by somethign. He fell to the ground and skidded a bit before coming to a stop. Jotaro dusted himself off and rose back to his feet. Whatever had hit him wasn't too physically strong. He decided it was best just to avoid a confrontation altogether though. Not turning his back to think unknown things he began to back out of the area slowly, an attempt to show he meant no harm.
Whatever it was didn't seems to take kindly to this as it struck him again. Jotaro had expected it this time however and managed to hold his ground. Now he was beginning to get a bit angry, but he knew what was going on now. He stood in place and tossed a shuriken into a nearby tree. Now he was just daring whatever it was to attack him. Falling into his taunt it moved again. Jotaro now drew a bag full of caltrops. Though oddly enough, he didn't toss them straight at the threat, he threw them into the tree beside him obviously and took a direct hit. Now most would think the attacker could just use a different tree than the one lined with caltrops however it flew straight into it. "Damnit!" Jotaro heard from the trees and smirked. he had it figured out by this point. The genin rose back to his feet and made a run for the opposite end of the trees. As expected the shadowy figure moved towards him. Drawing to Kunai he tossed one upwards and the other at the figure. There was another cry of pain as it was hit and it soon fell to the ground. Jotaro bent over and picked something up off the ground.
Just as he had expected it was some stupid thief trick. There was wire set up in between all of these trees that the man had been using to zip line across all over the place. Of course it was a stupid trick seeing as how sliding on the line made you open to attacks but some people were dumb enough to believe these kind of things were effective Jotaro thought. He looked down to man as he pull the kunai out of his shoulder and threw it to the ground. He sighed and gave the downed man a kick to the face to knock him out. He should've just been thankful his attack hadn't hit anything vital. Of course, some stupid bandit wasn't really worth Jotaro's time so he decided to move on. He had already lost enough time with this pathetic man. _________________ [quote="OzanaruSyra"]

After exiting the forest the rest of his trip was mostly easygoing. He had a few difficulties here and there, but nothing too serious. The worst of them probably had to be when he had to go through the river without getting his clothes wet. Long story short, they ended up soaked to the bone. He ended up sleep in some random cave out in the middle of nowhere, but it wasn't much problem. During the night he was nearly robbed though, but managed to outsmart another idiot much as he had done earlier before. After finally reaching his old hom and spending the night there a while he made the long journey back to the village so he could finally begin the real training.
